Lycopersicon esculentum 'San Marzano'
TOMATO - GRAFTED HEIRLOOM
Tomato 'San Marzano' is quite a famous Italian heirloom variety that is well known for its use in sauces. It produces bright red, tapered fruit that is about 3" in length. The tomatoes have a meaty and flavorful taste and are fantastic for canning or sauces.
When tomatoes are grafted, a variety bred for flavor is grafted onto a vigorous and disease resistant rootstock. The result is a delicious tomato with heirloom flavor, superior disease resistance and a bountiful harvest.
Here are some benefits of grafted tomatoes vs. non-grafted:
- Extreme vigor means better growth and more fruits
- Increased disease resistance means healthier plants
- Tolerates environmental stress from temperature extremes and poor soils
- More abundant fruit production over a longer period
- Non-GMO

HOMEOWNER GROWING AND MAINTENANCE TIPS
The graft must be planted above soil level, and prune lateral suckers for best fruiting. If you look closely you will see the graft at the base of the stem. Do not allow the top plant to begin to root into the ground or you will loose the benefits of the grafting.
