Japanese in origin, this variety was listed by J.M. Thorburn & Co. in 1894. The tender, crisp, and slightly tart fruit can reach up to 9" long. An excellent variety for both slicing and pickling.

HOMEOWNER GROWING AND MAINTENANCE TIPS

Sow seeds outdoors in 12” diameter hills, with 6-8 seeds per hill, after the last frost when soil is warm. Once germinated, thin down to 3-4 plants per hill. Space hills 6’ apart in all directions. Can also be started indoors 2-4 weeks before the last frost for an earlier harvest. Cucumbers benefit from consistent moisture. Provide support for vines to save space.
