Abies balsamea Nana is a small globed-shaped evergreen shrub. It has dark green needles with a horizontal spreading habit. Makes an excellent choice for rock gardens and mixed borders.

Achillea 'Pomegranate' is a wonderful variety not only because of its beauty, but also for its easy maintenance. The rich, velvety-red flowers make a striking impact in the garden. Achillea 'Saucy Seduction' produces a significant amount of long-lasting blooms in vivid hues. It has a dense, sturdy, columnar habit, and stellar garden performance even in hot, humid conditions. The flowers are large rosy-pink heads with subtle white shading, which bloom from June to August. The rich green foliage has silvery highlights and forms dense upright columns.

Achillea 'Wonderful Wampee' has gorgeous, rich pink flowers that bloom from about June to August. As the blooms age they elegantly fade to white with pink hues edging the petals. It has a fantastic compact habit with healthy foliage that is disease resistant. 'Wonderful Wampee' will give excellent heat tolerance, long bloom time, and beautiful color to the garden.

Aconitum fischeri produces beautiful, blue flowers on thick, sturdy stems that do not need staking. The foliage is dark green and deeply dissected allowing for interest all season long. It prefers moist, partially shaded areas and will begin to bloom mid to late summer.

Actinidia krupnopladnaya is an attractive vine with green, heart-shaped leaves. It will produce kiwis if a male vine is present. Great choice for trellises, fences, or walls.

Agastache 'Bolero' stands out from other varieties with its dark bronze foliage and beautiful purple flowers. The foliage is compact, aromatic, and both slug and deer resistant. Flowers bloom from midsummer into the fall. It is a great choice for rock gardens, borders, as well as, containers. 

Alchemilla mollis 'Alma' is an adorable, shorter version of mollis. It is a compact variety with scalloped, blue-green fuzzy leaves and blooms earlier than other Alchemilla. In early summer the light foam-like sprays of chartreuse green appear above the foliage. Its beauty extends into the fall when the blooms and stems turn burnt orange in color.

Alchemilla mollis 'Thriller' has excellent gray-green foliage with tiny, star-shaped, green-yellow blooms. It is slightly larger than mollis yet remains compact and well behaved. A great plant for any landscape!

Alchemilla sericata ‘Gold Strike’ has bright chartreuse flowering umbels and velvety gray-green, scalloped foliage. It is a free flowering plant that blooms from June to August and maintains a compact habit. This is an excellent choice for the landscape because of its fun texture and bright colors.

Chives is one of the easiest herbs to grow! The grass-like foliage has an onion smell and taste to it. Harvest chives by simply cutting back to about half the plant height. The purple flowers are also edible and add great color to salads and other dishes. Continue cutting chives when needed and add to salads, baked potatoes, and soups.

Lemon Verbena is wonderfully aromatic and adds a refreshing lemony taste to any dish. It has a strong lemon flavor that blends well with other herbs in teas. Lemon Verbena is great in any beverage, salad, sauce, soup, or dish that calls for a lemon as an ingredient or garnish.

Alstroemeria 'INCA ICE' forms an upright clump of bushy green foliage. The top 1/4 of the plant becomes engulfed with beautifully, soft flowers. Blooms are apricot-pink and creamy yellow with brown speckling and appear in mid to late summer. Full umbels can carry up to 20 or more flowers.

Sweet Alyssum has tiny, bright white flowers that cover the entire plant. The flowers have a sweet fragrance and attract butterflies. It is a low maintenance plant that works well as an annual ground cover, has excellent heat tolerance and vigor and looks great in borders.

Andropogon 'Indian Summer' is a tall, ornamental grass that forms an upright clump of green foliage that gradually changes to dusky purple tones as early as mid-summer. The deep purple inflorescence appear atop reddish stems in late summer and open up to showcase the bright orange-red pollen sacs. With the cooler weather, the foliage transitions from green to smoky purple with hints of red. This native grass is a beautiful addition to the landscape.

Angelica archangelica is a large, attractive plant that has multiple uses. It looks great when used as a landscape plant, but can also be used as an herb. People use the sweet leaves and stalks of the plant for garnishes and candies. The white umbels of flowers make a nice contrast against the green leaves and are a favorite of butterflies, and bees.

Aquileqia 'Blue Bird' produce beautiful white and light blue flowers in the spring. Clusters of flowers face skyward allowing for maximum visibility. This is a nice choice for borders, containers, or as cut flowers.

To add bright color to the shade garden, Aralia 'Sun King' is the perfect choice. The big bold, golden leaves make for an outstanding display. In late summer small clusters of white flowers appear and are later followed by attractive purple berries. This fast growing plant will become a favorite and looks great whether out in the landscape or in containers.

Argyranthemum frutescens ‘Butterfly’ from Proven Winners is an excellent summer performer!  One of the original Proven Winner plants it is still growing in popularity.  It's bright yellow daisy flowers open in early spring and continue through late fall.  It works well in both the landscape and in pots.

Argyranthemum frutescens ‘Molimba Pink’ from Proven Winners has brilliant pink flowers that will not fade in the summer heat.  It's beautiful mounding habit works well in both the landscape and in pots.

Argyranthemum frutescens ‘Vanilla Butterfly’ from Proven Winners flowers start with a primrose throat fading to a vanilla white as they mature in the full sun.  Great mounding growth habit and flower power that works well in both the landscape and pots.  Blooms continuously from early spring until late fall.

Artemesia stelleriana 'Silver Brocade' brings beautiful texture to the garden with its silvery-white foliage. Leaves are almost felt-like and have a hint of green coloring. This fast growing plant works well with darker foliage to add a nice pop of color all season long.

Tarragon is a culinary treat with its distinct peppery, anise-like flavor with a hint of vanilla. The dark, shiny green foliage can be used fresh or dried. Use as a flavoring for meats, sauces, or winde vinegars.

Artichoke 'Imperial Star' produces lots of sweet tasting artichokes from mid-summer into the fall. The artichokes reach about 4 1/2 inches in size and are thornless for an easy and painless harvest. The plant reaches a height of 4 feet and has attractive grey/green foliage.

Arugula is a fast growing salad green that does well in cool season. Mix in with other leafy greens for a tasty and nutritious salad. It has a distinctive, sharp, nutty flavor when picked young.

Asarum splendens is an ideal groundcover for shady gardens forming a nice, thick mat of foliage. The large leaves are an elongated, heart shape and dark green in color with an exquisite mottled, shimmering silver pigment running throughout. They produce purple flowers in early spring that are at soil level. Although not showy, the flowers are a nice surprise if you peak underneath the leaves.

Asclepias is a tough, drought tolerant native with 3 months of bright yellow flat-topped blooms. After flowering the green fruits are filled with silvery-white, silky seeds. Attracts butterflies of all kinds especially Monarchs. Very showy.

Asclepias incarnata is a fantastic plant that attracts all kinds of butterflies. A must have for all butterfly gardens with its clusters of beautiful pink flowers. The foliage is similar to that of Willows and is 4" - 5" long. Swamp Milkweeds like consistantly moist soil and full sun.  

Asparaugus verticillatus is a great twining vine that has airy fern-like foliage that will twist its way through trellises and fences. It produces loads of small, white, fragrant flowers in late spring that eventually give way to red berries in late summer. Fruiting does not usually occur in the first season.

Astilbe 'Younique Carmine' has a nice compact habit and produces an abundunce of flowers. It is a fast growing plant that forms into a mound of petite leaves. The plumes are fuchsia-red and burst in the garden. A great shady perennial! 

Astilbe 'Younique Lilac' has beautiful lavender-pink plumes that protude above the dissected foliage. It has a high flower count and triangular flower scapes. Brings excellent color and texture to the shade garden. This variety has a great compact habit and is fast growing.  

Astilbe 'Younique White' brings brilliant color to the shade garden. The bright white, clean flowers bloom in spring to summer and are produced in abundance. It has a wonderful compact habit, making it an excellent choice for containers and smaller landscapes.

Astilbe chinensis Delft Lace has airy flowers that standout above the blue-green foliage. The flower stems are a deep reddish-pink with the buds opening up to a soft pink that attracts butterflies. The leaves have a waxy sheen and a silver, lacey orverlay. The perfect plant to add a burst of color to the shade garden.

For a dwarf astilbe that provides big impact, 'Little Vision in Pink' is the way to go. It is a compact plant with thick, sturdy stems, and is more sun tolerant than other varieties. The plumes of pink flowers are striking against the dark green foliage. This is a great choice for woodland gardens.

Astilbe chinensis 'Purple Candles' is a later blooming variety that packs a punch with its rich violet-red plumes. As the blooms mature they begin to lighten. The dark green foliageis coarse in texture and adds a nice backdrop to the beautiful flowers. This is a great choice to brighten any shady landscape.

Use the later blooming 'Visions' to extend the Astilbe bloom season in your garden. These white plumes are dense and upright. The foliage forms dense compact clumps.

Astrantia major 'Star of Beauty' is a fantastic woodland plant that produces beautiful rose colored flowers with white centers. The button-head flowers are in abundance from early to late summer and are long lasting. 'Star of Beauty' will add a natural touch to the shade garden.

Astrantia major 'Star of Fire' is a unique addition to the shade garden. The burgundy-red flowers have white centers and sit atop dark purple stems. It is an excellent choice as a woodland plant and are also great when used as cut flowers.

Azalea 'Cascade' has beautiful white flowers and evergreen foliage. Hardy plant that can be trimmed to keep a nice shape. This should be done after the plant is done blooming in late spring/early summer. If done too late in the growing season it will cut off the blooms for next season.  Should be fertilized with an acidic fertilizer in early spring and when planting.

Azalea Dawn's Chorus is a striking shrub for the landscape. The reddish-orange buds open into beautiful pink frilly flowers with a white and yellow blotch. It has a great mounding habit that can be planted in masses to make a statement in the spring.
